(NECN: Cambridge, Mass.) - Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham is in town for Saturday's game against the Revolution. He spoke to the media about his time in the U.S. and what he plans to do for the future.
Beckham says he won't have much free time while he's here, but what he would do might surprise you. He says he is a big Boston Celtics fan, and he would have loved to seen them play.
"I'd love to see a game here, because I know how passionate the fans are," Beckham said. "They're a team I always enjoyed watching when they've come to the Staples Center because there's always a great atmosphere and they're passionate players and have a passionate coach."
Beckham also commented on the news that his wife, Victoria will be a judge for American Idol next season. "She's obviously really excited about it," he said. "Everyone is sad to see Paula go of course, because she was loved by so many people. I'm sure she will go on and do great things."
Beckham has high hopes for the MLS, and says more European soccer players will make the transition. "The league will grow in the next 5 or 10 years. That's what players in Europe look for. They look for a challenge."
