(NECN: Waltham, Mass.) - Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge is happy to have Glen "Big Baby" Davis back. Davis signed a two-year contract worth a reported 6.3 million dollars. Ainge says, "Glen is a really good player. He's proven that when he's gotten opportunities to play, that he can step up in big games and make big plays. Its really good to have him back." Ainge says that although Davis received interest from a number of teams, his "restricted" status likely hurt his value. "Teams that were offering him money but the restricted status prevented them, or scared them off thinking the Celtics would match. So I think that hurt his value in the open market." The Celtics also announced today that they have signed free agent center/forward Shelden Williams. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ainge says the team's front court is the best its been since the team had Bird, Mchale and Parish.
