| October 26, 2009 Revs nab playoff spot with 1-0 win

(NECN/ESPN2: Columbus, Ohio) - Needing a win or a tie to clinch a playoff berth, the New England Revolution answered with a 1-0 victory Sunday night over the Columbus Crew.
The game's lone goal came in the 79th minute off a free kick struck by Jeff Larentowicz. From 20 yards out, the midfielder bent his shot around the Crew wall and past keeper Kenny Schoeni.
The win gave new England (11-10-9) 42 points and a spot in the MLS playoffs, bumping the Colorado Rapids out of the group of eight teams which qualified. The Revolution will take on the Chicago Fire for the fifth straight year.
