| October 29, 2009 Nowinski: Coaches need concussion education
|
(NECN) - Head trauma in football and other professional sports hit Capitol Hill this week, as National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell sat before a Congressional hearing on the subject.
Chris Nowinski, a former Harvard football player and professional wrestler who co-founded the Sports Legacy Institute to investigate the long-term effects of sports-related head trauma was a guest on NECN's Broadside: The New with Jim Braude.
"If you want to know not how to do research, follow the NFL's committee," Nowinski said of the league's attempts at investigating effects of head injuries.
"I told Congress yesterday, unless all your coaches know what a concussion is and what to do and what your kids do, football is not a very safe sport now," Nowinski said.
