(NECN/ESPNU: Chestnut Hill, Mass.) - Boston College snapped Central Michigan's seven-game winning streak on Saturday, remaining perfect at home with a 31-10 win.
The Eagles pulled away in the second half in a game which had historic implications. Kicker Steve Aponavicius, a former walk-on, became the school's all-time leading scorer on an extra point kicked after a Montel Harris 3-yard touchdown run.
Aponavicius sits at 267 total points, putting him past place-kicker Brian Lowe's mark of 262 obtained from 1986 to 1989.
"It's tremendous for Steve, it really is," head coach Frank Spaziani said, before letting out a few laughs. "He drops out of the student section and after a lot of hard work he becomes the all-time leading scorer."
In 2005, Aponavicius was shirtless with his body painted for the season-opener against Army. He was captured in the team's highlight video.
Shortly after the game, a graduate assistant noticed him kicking footballs in Alumni Stadium and asked him if he was interested in walking onto the team.
Boston College improved to (6-3) with the win. The team next travels to Virginia in two weeks.
