(NECN) - Matt Cassel admits to receiving guidance via telephone from and injured Tom Brady, but that's as far as he is willing to go.

Cassel said that he doesn't discuss with Tom his injury status, but that the quarterback is in high spirits.

It came out on Thursday that Brady has had multiple supplementary surgeries aimed at cleaning out an infection in his knee.

The Patriots released a statement refuting a report made by ESPN which said the Patriots were displeased with Brady for choosing to have his operation in Los Angeles rather than Boston, which the team preferred.
