Garnett carries Celtics to game 1 win

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - The Boston Celtics did what they had to do. They stopped LeBron James, and it was just barely enough.

Kevin Garnett had 28 points, while the Celtics defense held the NBA's leading scorer to 12 points on 2-of-18 shooting, as Boston defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 76-72 at TD Banknorth Garden in game one of their NBA Conference Semifinal.

Garnett's driving basket with 21 seconds left gave Boston a 74-72 lead, but with 9 seconds left, James could not get his layup to fall after beating James Posey. Posey got the rebound, and sank two foul shots to give the final victory margin.
