(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - The news that the Boston Red Sox won't be forced to lose Josh Beckett for an extended perioud is resonating in the Sox clubhouse. Pitcher Jon Lester says putting Beckett on the disabled list (retroactively) to give him a little more time to get right is a good idea - and says the rest of the pitchers will do their part to "hold down the fort" until their ace can return. "i don't think we have to do anything special," Lester said.
Lester said he has confidence in rookie David Pauley, who will get the start on Saturday as the team juggles its rotation. Daisuke matsuzaka, who was initially penciled in for Saturday, moves up to tonight to face Javier Vazquez.
