| October 4, 2008 Lowell: 'I want to play'

(NECN) - Held out of Game 2 of the ALDS in favor of Mark Kotsay, Mike Lowell admitted that he does not believe he is hiding the fact that he wants to play.
With that said, he also understood that Kotsay had good numbers coming into the game and performed well.
Lowell said that his injured hip does not get better with rest, which makes it hard to sit on the bench. It feels almost as if there is no benefit to him sitting.
"I don't feel like there's any reason why I can't have a good game," Lowell said.
He also stressed that the most important thing is the team's ultimate goal -- another World Series title. Lowell was the World Series MVP for the Red Sox in 2007.
