April 24, 2008 Masterson to start for Sox

(NECN) - Rookie Justin Masterson will make his major league debut this afternoon, as the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels wrap up their three-game series at Fenway Park.

Masterson was called up today by the Sox, to start in place on Jon Lester, who was forced into an emergency start last night when Daisuke Masterson had to be scratched with the flu.

Masterson has given up just 2 earned runs in 19 innings with the Portland Sea Dogs of the Eastern League so far this season.
