(NECN: Foxboro, Mass.) - The New England Patriots first-round draft choice Jerod Mayo got his official welcome to Foxboro today.
The linebacker from Tennessee met the media at a Gillette Stadium appearance with owner Robert Kraft and team president Jonathan Kraft today. Mayo held up a jersey with the number 1, although he does not know what number he will have when he joins the team this season.
"I'm just excited, overwhelmed, really," Mayo told the media. "I'm ready to get my playbook and start learning this defense."
The Patriots owner added his own note to the event. "Kraft... Mayo... it goes very well."
