(NECN) - On the beach the team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh defended their gold medal from Athens in 2004.

They defeated China this morning in driving rain, going the entire tournament without dropping a set.

They also extended their winning streak to 108 matches.

As for indoor volleyball, the U.S. Women's Team will play for their first ever gold medal after sweeping Cuba this morning in three sets.

The best ever finish for the team was a 1984 silver medal.
