| September 7, 2008 Moss: We are ready to embrace Cassel, let him lead us
|
(NECN) - During the preseason, Patriots fans were questioning his ability to back up Tom Brady -- could he lead the team should Brady go down with injury?
Now that question has been answered -- for one game, at least.
Tom Brady went down in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a left knee injury, and Matt Cassel was forced into action.
Cassel led the Patriots on his opening drive 98-yards down the field, topped off by a 10-yard touchdown pass to Randy Moss.
Moss, the receiver whose connection with Brady was most noted, due to his record setting 23 touchdown receptions on Brady thrown passes last season, came out after Sunday's game and backed Cassel, saying the team is ready to embrace Cassel and to let him lead the team.
