| June 6, 2008 Pierce: I had to get back out there
|
(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - "When I first went to the ground I heard a pop in my knee. I thought I tore something. I was just in pain where I couldn't move. Once I got to the back, I stood on my two feet, tried to put weight on it and it wasn't bad. I had to get back out there. I just wanted to get back out there," said Boston Celtics All-Star Paul Pierce in reference to his injury during Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The doctors told Pierce he had a strained meniscus.
"I was able to get through the night. I don't know if it was off adrenaline or what," said Pierce.
The Celtics went on to beat the Lakers, 98-88. Pierce finished with 22 points.
Game 2 is on Sunday night in Boston.
