| October 23, 2008 Report: More surgeries on Brady's knee

(NECN) - As if the original knee injury was not enough, the subsequent infection following surgery might be enough to delay Tom Brady's healthy return under center for 2009 season.
A report by Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald references an unnamed source in saying that Brady has had three surgeries trying to dissipate the knee infection -- only one had been reported prior.
Last week, Brady released a statement on his website detailing his recovery from the knee injury.
"We were proactive with the infection and the doctors went in for a second procedure this past Wednesday to clean and test the wound," Brady's statement said.
No statement has been issued by the team or Brady regarding the Herald's report of multiple surgeries to treat an infection.
Grugerian notes, via her source, that the concern is with the graft used to replace Brady's torn ACL -- that it may be in danger and the repair would need to be started over from phase one. Such an occurrence would push back Brady's return date.
