(NECN: San Diego) - Tiger Woods is ready. The two-time U.S. Open champion says he feels great as he gets ready for the Open championship that starts Thursday.

The world's top-ranked player has been out of action since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after the Masters in April.

Phil Mickelson, who grew up in San Diego and played high school matches at Torrey Pines where the U.S. Open will be held, carries a bit of baggage into this week's national championship. Although Mickelson has won 34 times on the PGA Tour, he is 0-17 at the U.S. Open.
