(NECN) - It's a sight that doesn't surprise Boston fans, and would have ignited a firestorm in Red Sox Nation. But Manny Ramirez had a 'Manny Moment' last night, leaving the game between the Dodgers and Phillies before the ninth inning, after what Joe Torre calls a 'misunderstanding' between his slugger and him.

Torre says Ramirez thought he had been removed from the game before the top of the ninth inning, and went into the clubhouse. When Torre was told Manny had left the field, he sent someone in to get Ramirez, and after a short delay, Ramirez was back on the field.

But what would have been a major media blowup in Boston was taken in stride in L.A.

Asked what happened, Manny told reporters "I went in to use the bathroom." The reply from the hard-hitting L.A. press corps? Laughter, and one comment, "OK, Manny."
