(John Moroney, NECN: Revere, Mass. ) - There are serious concerns about brush fires in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. Significant fires were reported in at least five Massachusetts communities and another four were reported in New Hampshire. In all, more than 100 brush fires burned in the region Thursday.
15 acres were scorched by a brush fire in Revere, Massachusetts. It came close to homes and sent plumes of white smoke as high as the eyes could see.
Dry conditions and the lack of green vegetation always create a volatile mix this time of year. Investigators in Revere say the fire was intentionally set with multiple points of origin.
Officials also believe another fire in Dedham, Massachusetts was set. It burned 5 or 6 acres.
