WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A blast of Arctic air left New Englanders shivering and prompted a warning from the National Weather Service about dangerous wind chills. Just before 8 a.m. Thursday, Worcester Regional Airport was reporting a temperature reading of zero with a wind chill index of 15-below. Boston wasn't much warmer, with a temperature reading of 7 degrees and a wind chill index of 11-below at Logan International Airport. The National Weather Service had earlier posted a wind chill advisory for Worcester County. Such an advisory is issued when the combination of cold air and strong winds create conditions that can result in frostbite and hypothermia. While frigid temperatures were expected throughout the day in Massachusetts, forecasters see a warming trend this weekend. NECN's Latoyia Edwards spoke with a doctor about weathering these frigid temperatures.
