| January 8, 2009 Strong earthquake shakes Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) - A strong earthquake has shaken the
Costa Rican capital of San Jose, sending frightened residents
running into streets.
There have been no reports of injuries or damages in the minutes
following the earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the 6.2 magnitude quake was
centered 22 miles (35 kilometers) northwest of San Jose early
Thursday afternoon.
