| June 29, 2009 President of Honduras in Costa Rica after coup
|
(NECN/APTV) - The President of Honduras is in Costa Rica Monday morning after being ousted in a military coup.
Soldiers arrested President Manuel Zelaya hours before a disputed constitutional referendum that would have removed limits to his re-election.
Honduran lawmakers have accepted a purported letter of resignation from the President.
But Zelaya says he's still president, calling the resignation totally false.
Central American leaders are meeting in Nicaragua Monday to discuss the situation.
It's the first coup in Latin America in 16-years.
