(NECN/AuBC) - The Perth Zoo in Australia has been quick to defend its security procedures on Sunday, after an orangutan briefly escaped from its enclosure a day earlier.

The 15-year-old female orangutan used a rope to swing itself onto the enclosure fence and then climbed over.

A Perth Zoo official said it took staff five minutes to get the primate back into the enclosure.

The official said no visitors to the zoo were in any danger.
