| August 6, 2008 Bush thanks Thailand for restoring its democracy

(NECN: Bangkok, Thailand) - President Bush delivered a speech in Bangkok, Thailand today to a crowd of foreign diplomats, Thai government leaders and business officials.
"United States and Thailand are working to expand freedom with good governance. I thank you very much and congratulate the people of Thailand for restoring its democracy," said Bush.
"We support your efforts to reduce trade barriers and expand economic opportunity and help Southeast Asia grow," said Bush.
"The United States and Thailand work together to help fight disease. We've dedicated $35 million to help prevent and treat HIV and AIDS here in Thailand," said President Bush. "We're also working on Avian Flu."
"I'm looking forward to eating some good Thai food," President Bush added.
