(NECN) - India now has its first female saint.
Pope Benedict proclaimed four new saints during a canonization ceremony this morning in St. Peter's Square.
Among them, an Indian nun named Sister Alphonsa.
Pope Benedict praised Saint Alphonsa and expressed his hopes for religious tolerance in India.
