(NECN) - The United States could remove North Korea from its terrorism blacklist as early as Saturday.

It's an attempt to salvage nuclear talks between the two countries.

US officials say North Korea will be placed back on the list if it doesn't comply with inspections of its nuclear facilities.

Meantime, North Korea has released pictures of leader Kim Jong Il for the first time in two months.

Kim has been sick recently and it's not clear when the photos were taken.
