Prince Harry recalled from action in Afghanistan

(NECN/ABC) - The British military is pulling Prince Harry out of Afghanistan.

A media blackout to protect his secret service there ended yesterday when the online drudge report blew his cover.

The defense ministry blames foreign press for putting Harry and his men in unneccessary danger.

By Saturday morning, prince Harry will be far away from the front lines in Afghanistan.

It is a bitter disappointment for 2nd lieutenant Harry Wales. He has said all his wishes came true when he finally had the chance to serve alongside his men.

It is very nice to be a normal person for once, I think this is about as normal as I am ever going to get.

Prince Harry: “Obviously they are all fully aware of what the situation is and always keeping an eye out for me” “everyone else gets on with their daily life, there are bigger things going on in the world and going on on the front lines rather than worrying about look who's here.”

Capt. Dickon Leigh-wood, Blues and royals: “I think he is loving it, I think he is loving the privacy. There is no paparazzi chasing him, he hasn't got his bodyguard team with him in the field.

Lance corporal Frankie O'leary: He is one of these officers that you can talk to. He is laid back, chilled Out. Once a job needs doing, he doesn't shout and scream at you, he just asks you to do it, and it makes you want to work for the man.

Which would have continued, but the news spread around the world

after it appeared in the drudge report.

The defense ministry has said the worldwide media attention immediately makes Harry a Taliban target - and that is too big a risk for the soldier Prince and his men.

ABC’s Gloria Riviera has more.
