(NECN/ABC) - In China, the official death toll is nearly 15,000 after Monday's massive earthquake.
But, there is good reason to fear it will soar much higher.
Nearly 100,000 Chinese troops are part of the rescue and recovery effort. But bad weather and aftershocks are making things even more difficult.
Across China, the stories of the lives lost far overnumber those of the lives saved.
In Sichuan Province, a rescuer asked another trapped child, "what grade are you in?" "Second," she says. Later, she was freed, but across China, thousands of students and teachers were killed when their schools collapsed.
In Sichuan Province alone, an estimated 25,000 or more are still buried under the rubble. Over 14,000 are missing.
