| March 30, 2008 Two American soldiers killed in Iraq
|
(NECN/ABC) - Baghdad is under a tight curfew tonight as fighting continues between Shiite
militants and Iraqi security forces.
Day six of the fighting between the govt. And the Mahdi army.
The militia controlled by the anti-American cleric, Muqtada Al Sadr saw some of the fiercest fighting yet. In Sadr city two American soldiers were killed when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. Many Army members took to the streets using machine guns and Mortar fire, both at military positions and at the U.S. occupied green zone in the center of Baghdad.
In Basrait was much of the same fighting that we've seen all week. U.S. war planes for the third time dropped bombs on the militant positions north of the city.
Those positions called in by Iraqi forces on the ground, and for the first time the British started using artillery against militia positions. All this as the very strict curfew is extended indefinitely.
ABC's Miguel Marquez has more from Baghdad.
