(NECN) - The United Nations is calling on Myanmar to open its country to foreign aid.
Myanmar's military government has refused to allow a French Navy ship with 1,500 tons of aid to deliver food and medicine.
The French ambassador to the UN says the country's refusal to accept aid could lead to a, quote "true crime against humanity.".
According to the International Red Cross, hundreds of thousands of survivors remain in need of food, shelter and water.
Myanmar state television now reports the number killed by that cyclone has nearly doubled to almost 78,000. Another 56,000 are missing.
The United Nations says it estimates more than 100,000 have died.
