New England Cable News (NECN), America’s largest and most honored regional news network, is currently seeking an energetic, talented promotions producer/editor. Want to have your creative genius reach 3.7 million subscribers? Then take a look at the promotions producer opportunity at NECN. This position works closely with the news department on writing and editing daily topical promotions for our award winning news and entertainment programs. This position also works with other departments including sales, traffic, operations, and the graphics department.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
Creativity is key. Strong candidates for this position will have the ideas and the know how to execute their vision. The ideal candidate “gets” television. Knows it well and understands what it takes to make it better. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will know how to promote NECN’s extensive and varied programming. Responsibilities include; daily topical promotion, station image spots and sales commercials / presentations.
The ideal Candidate must have strong writing and communication skills along with the ability to work quickly in a fast paced news environment. Candidate will have excellent editing skills and experience working on the AVID editing system.. Knowledge of Adobe After Effects a plus but not necessary.
Other responsibilities include; working with the Creative Director on strategic placement of daily promotions within the traffic rundown and NECN break structure. We do this with the software program Wide Orbit traffic. Prior knowledge of Wide-Orbit traffic or similar traffic management system is preferred but not necessary. We are willing to train on this software. You will be in charge of the promotion placement within Wide-Orbit on a daily basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Supervises the Engineering, IT, Studio and Field Operations management team 2.Oversees the management of related work-center staff 3.Develops departmental operation and capital budgets 4.Creates and directs the implementation of operations and production policies 5.Advises the General Manager with respect to technology, operations and staff planning 6.Responsible for purchasing & contracts administration for production and transmission, telecommunications, IP connectivity and support service agreements 7.Oversees matters related to company vehicles including licensing, insurance and maintenance 8.Responsible for maintaining physical plant and coordinating building services with landlord 9.Punctual, regular and consistent attendance 10.Other duties as assigned

Primary purpose of position is to accurately traffic all NECN.COM sold digital campaigns with an emphasis on video and display advertising for NECN.com and to help maximize revenue. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and communicating technical specs to sales, clients and agencies, securing campaign creatives from clients/agencies, testing campaign creative for compliance with outlined specs, accurately trafficking ads in ad server (OAS 24-7 real media) and analyzing performance reports to monitor campaign delivery.
In addition, this position will serve as support for day-to-day operational issues of Ad Sales department as well as support for the Digital Sales Manager
Preferred 1-year experience in online traffic role, and or 1-year experience in ad sales or ad agency environment.
Experience with scheduling ads into ad server (OAS 24-7 Real Media or any other ad server). Knowledge of Flash, rich media, DHTML, etc., and familiarity with online advertising principles and Internet technologies preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.

New England Cable News (NECN), America’s largest regional cable news channel, seeks freelance candidates for on-call, vacation relief, illness and special event coverage of the following technical operations positions.
Freelance Director/TD: Call and switch programming on NECN’s Grass Valley Kalypso or Ampex Century 215 production switchers. The Freelance Director/TD is familiar with the AP’s ENPS, Thomson-Grass Valley production automation, Pinnacle Lightning still stores and Chyron Max character generators. A college degree in a related field and three years of specific experience is required.
Freelance SNG Truck/ENG Van Operator: Drive and operate NECN’s remote satellite and microwave vans for newsgathering. Successful candidates will have two years experience in live truck operations, a clean driving record, strong commitment to safe truck operations and the capability to diagnose and/or complete minor repairs. The ability to perform with diplomacy, safety and efficiency under deadline pressure is strongly preferred. A valid health card and familiarization with DOT driving regulations is required. References and driving records checked.
Freelance Audio Operator: The ability to mix live television news with remote elements and frequent program rundown changes is required. Two years of experience in a major market news environment and a college degree is desired. Familiarity with the AP’s ENPS, Wheatstone and Mackie audio consoles, IFB routers and digital audio editing software is necessary.
Freelance Receive, Server and Videotape Operators: Duties include the ability to precisely execute the playout of program elements according to show rundowns. Tune satellite and microwave reception equipment as needed for live news transmissions. Route incoming and outgoing fiber optic transmissions, record incoming feed materials and establish two-way communications with crews in the field. . Familiarity with the AP’s ENPS, a two-year college degree, technical school and/or industry experience is desired.
Freelance Master Control Operators: Presentation of programs and commercials according the station’s master log, with regular cut-ins for breaking news events on various shifts. NECN uses a Sundance/Seachange automation system with Utah Scientific routing and switching. Duties include maintaining the on-time delivery of program elements, commercials and promotional materials. A two-year college degree, technical school and/or industry experience is required.
Freelance Robotic Camera Operator: Operate Vinten/TSM, Livewave and Telemetrics camera control systems on various shifts. A two-year college degree, technical school and/or industry experience is preferred for these weekday coverage opportunities on various shifts.
