(NECN: New Orleans, Louisiana) - Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff is meeting today in Louisiana with Governor Bobby Jindal and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.
Tropical Storm Gustav, which is churning through the Caribbean with near-hurricane force winds, is expected in the Gulf Coast region early next week.
New Orleans officials have begun preliminary planning to evacuate and lock down the city, National Guard troops are at the ready and batteries and water bottles are selling briskly.
The third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is tomorrow.
