| August 29, 2008 Uncut: Palin accepts McCain invitation as VP pick

She's an unknown to most Americans, hugely popular in her home state of Alaska, and she now has 67 days to help John McCain win. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin today joined the McCain presidential campaign, meeting a cheering crowd in Dayton, Ohio.
The mother of five said the job "will demand the best I have to give, and I promise nothing less."

Palin said she never set out to go into politics, but as a city councilor, mayor and Governor, she has "stood up to the old politics as usual, to the special interests, to the lobbyists and the good ol' boy network."
Among her achievements, she cited her backing of a 40 billion dollar natural gas pipeline in Alaska, ethics reforms and her willingness to work with Democrats and independens, to achieve results.
