| September 23, 2008 Fox: Shaheen will be 'leader' on stem cell research

(NECN: New Hampshire) - Actor Michael J. Fox, a vocal supporter of expanding embryonic stem cell research since being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, was in New Hampshire today to back former Governor Jeanne Shaheen's Senate campaign.
"Jeanne wants to move medical science forward. She will go to Washington as an advocate for funding researchers and scientists looking at all forms of stem cell research," said Fox.
"I'm confident that the future of science offers hope and will improve the lives of people living with numerous diseases and diseases, including cancer, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's," said Fox.
"It's time to let scientists be innovative and resourceful...with no political barriers," said Fox. "Let's take the politics out of science and send Jeanne Shaheen to the U.S. Senate," said Fox.
