(NECN) - The Boston Bruins continued their winning ways with a big 7-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres Wednesday night. Zdeno Chara and Chuck Kobasew each scored two goals, Marc Savard had a goal and three assists. It's their sixth straight win at home and their seventh win in the last eight games.
Bruins goalie Tim Thomas says the team has worked hard to be in first place and that's where they belong. "I don't know if it's a chip on the shoulder as much as it is character". He says that the mind set of the team to never give up and never quit, has carried over from last season, and they have been able to build on it this year.
Coach Claude Julien is not surprised by the success of the Bruins. He says that watching how the team grew last year made him confident for this season. "Our young guys are continuing to play well, and contribute in scoring areas, and our veterans are continuing to do the job. So right now we've go the team going pretty well on all cylinders."
The Bruins faceoff against the Florida Panthers Friday at the Garden.
