(NECN: Washington) - President Bush met with the President of Guatemala Monday at the White House. In press availability, the two leaders discussed a variety of issues including the fight against drug trafficking, immigration and blueberries.
Bush said, "The United States is pleased to help this government as best as we possibly can."
Alvaro Colom took office earlier this year and pledged to modernize his
nation's crime-plagued police force. He has also sought to put in
place tax reform and improve basic services in a country where many
live in poverty.
After the meeting the President and their wives enjoyed lunch together.
