(NECN: Washington) - President Bush remarked on gas prices, the housing crisis, FISA and Iraq on Wednesday morning at the White House with Republican leaders of Congress.
"We are deeply concerned about the high price of gasoline," said Bush.
President Bush has criticized Democrats in Congress for their approach in dealing with the housing crisis and soaring energy prices and he urged them not to expand a $108 billion Iraq war bill with issues such as extended unemployment benefits.
The president said he would veto the Democrats' broad housing
rescue plan, saying it would reward speculators and lenders.
Bush
also called on Congress to renew tax cuts that will expire, and to
pass legislation renewing the government's authority to listen in
on conversations of suspected terrorists.
