(NECN: Washington) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked Thursday why the world should believe we will be successful in fighting the war on terror by sending more troops to Afghanistan, if we have been unable to bring peace and stability to Iraq.
"It's a 50/50 chance as a matter of fact," said Pelosi.
"The president diluted our forces there to go into Iraq...tragic mistake the president has made," said Pelosi.
Pelosi said we must keep troops in Iraq for the purpose of fighting al-Qaida in Iraq, but stability will only be achieved when we begin the re-deployment of troops out of Iraq and into Afghanistan.
