Kate Winslet on Wednesday spoke out about bullying during the United Kingdom’s WE Day even in London, Vanity Fair reported.

Winslet shared her experiences being bullied with the crowd at the event to celebrate youth making a difference in their local and global communities, according to the organization's website.

"They called me blubber. Teased me for wanting to act. Locked me in the cupboard. Laughed at me," Winslet said.

Winslet shared that she was told that she "might be lucky" in her acting if she was "happy to settle for fat girl parts." According to the Oscar winner, casting agents even told her that she wasn’t what they were looking for.

"I learned to embrace my flaws, to make no apology for who I am," Winslet told the fired-up crowd. "And I decided that I simple wouldn’t listen when they said that my body didn’t fit. This is who I am."

Winslet has always been an outspoken advocate for positive body image. In 2003, she criticized GQ for reducing the size of her legs on her cover photo for the magazine.
