Uncle Stabbed Nephew to Death in Hartford: Police

A 67-year-old man accused of stabbing his 55-year-old nephew to death in Hartford on Thursday night is in police custody, police said.

The two family members who live together on James Street and had been drinking heavily when they got into an argument, according to police.

The uncle stabbed his nephew in the arm with a kitchen knife, then the nephew grabbed the knife and stabbed his uncle, according to police.

At 9:52 p.m., a witness called 911 and reported that two people were bleeding after a fight.

When officers arrived, they found a 55-year-old man with a stab wound to his arm.

Medics treated him at the scene and brought him to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:35 p.m. 

This is the 26th homicide in the city this year.

Police said an arrest is likely today. Hartford Police Major Crimes is investigating.
