Changes for the MBTA

Dr. Beverly Scott talked about late night service and an upgrade for Wi-Fi

Dr. Beverly Scott, General Manager of the MBTA grade to Keolis, joined NECN to discuss what’s new for the commuter rail and her first few weeks on the job.

Dr. Scott said it has been a smooth transition as Keolis took over the system. She says the main issue is the complexity of the system.

“The T is absolutely the most complicated of the transit systems, and that’s after having worked New York for six years,” Dr. Scott said. “This is the largest outsource contract of its kind in North America.”

Dr. Scott also talked about how many riders are taking advantage of the new late night service.

“I think it’s doing very, very well,” she said. “I’m cresting to getting almost a half million riders.”

In addition, Dr. Scott discussed the Cape Cod flyer and a plan to upgrade Wi-Fi.
