Chipotle in Billerica, Massachusetts, Gets All-Clear After Norovirus Concerns

A Chipotle restaurant in Billerica, Massachusetts, is set to reopen followings its closure amid norovirus concerns.

The establishment shut down on March 8 after one employee got sick with the virus. Three other employees are also suspected of having it.

None of the sick workers came in to work, but a health official says the store was closed as a precaution. No customers have reported being sick.

"The people suspected of having the norovirus did not work, they had called in sick, so that was very fortunate," says Richard Berube, Director of Public Health in Billerica.

"We're very satisfied with the cleanup that they've done," adds Berube.

Meanwhile, this isn't the only case of norovirus in Billerica. On March 9, it was confirmed that a high school student also tested positive for it. Health officials do not think the cases are connected, but this has not been confirmed.

Back in Nov. 2015, a Chipotle in Boston was closed for days after more than 140 people were sickened with norovirus. And, Chipotle is already fighting to win back customers following a rash of incidents around the country.
