How Tech Advances and Privacy Concerns Are Changing Back to School Shopping

Kate Ferrara, principal at Deloitte & Touche, says the average family will spend $600 this year

The start of the school year is closer than you may think, and as you get your kids ready for clsas, one of the yearly rituals is changing.

Advances in technology and privacy concerns are two factors driving shifts in back to school shopping.

Kate Ferrara, principal at Deloitte & Touche, said the average family will spend about $600 this year.

"The idea that back to school shopping as an event has really changed, and I think part of that is because of the Internet, because people can really get what they want, when they want it and it seems to be that the back to school season is really being spread out a bit more," she said.
