Mass. Gov. Statement on Market Basket

Gov. Deval Patrick urged protesting workers to go back to work in order to help stabilize the dispute

NECN business editor Peter Howe was on the Business Beat to discuss Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's role in the Market Basket conflict.

The governor urged protesting workers to go back to work in order to help stabilize the dispute.

“I do think he’s got a problem with his wife’s role as co-managing director of Ropes and Gray which does legal work for the Arthur S. side of this,” Howe said. “He certainly took exactly the Arthur S. side of the fight by telling people they should go back to work, which did not sit well with the workers I talked to.”

In addition, Howe discussed the new economic bill signed in Massachusetts, the future of the health connector, and how the Ice Bucket Challenge might change future fundraising efforts.
