New Businesses Looking To Come To RI

5 companies that Gov. Chafee met with while in Europe looking to establish presence in Ocean State

Five companies that Gov. Lincoln Chafee met with while in Europe in April are looking to establish a presence in Rhode Island.

Chafee, Gov.-elect Gina Raimondo and members of the congressional delegation will discuss the plans Thursday morning at the Statehouse. The companies haven't been named.

Chafee went to Italy and Ireland to meet with companies that had expressed an interest in Rhode Island operations.

Chafee spokeswoman Faye Zuckerman said when Chafee left for the trip that Rhode Island is attractive because of its proximity to Europe, and its transportation facilities including T.F. Green Airport and links to the Northeast Corridor.

Rhode Island-based GTech has business in Italy and Ireland. Chairman Donald Sweitzer is expected to attend the Statehouse event.
