On Tuesday, voters approved an earned paid sick time initiative in Massachusetts.

Labor law specialist Chris Kaczmarek joined NECN to discuss how this ballot question's approval will affect businesses and employees.

Kaczmarek says that companies with less than ten employees are exempt from the law. He also added that the law prohibits businesses from retaliating against employees who use the sick time.

Massachusetts is now the third state in the country that requires paid sick time.

The law goes into effect in July of 2015.
