A popular Boston-area craft brewery is closing its doors.
Somerville's Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project, best known for its Jack D'Or beer, has decided to close after seven years, according to a message posted to its website Tuesday.
"Seven years ago we sold our first glass of beer at The Publick House in Brookline," Dann and Martha Paquette wrote in their farewell message. "We didn't foresee then that our strange project would become such a part of our lives.
"Brewing our beers has been a great labor and a great joy. But best of all we shared it with so many great beer drinkers. It really feels like we met you all. We've stood in shops, bars, restaurants, on stages, in VFW halls. Sometimes you were already fans. Sometiems you spat out our beer. Sometimes you just fancied a chat. We always felt happy to meet you by the end. It was always fun, or funny, or we sold a beer, or learned something. Many of you became friends. We've loved drinking beers with you."
Fans of the craft brewery responded to the news on Facebook, lamenting the closure.
"A part of Somerville goes with you," wrote Brian Buck.
"Thank you from my broken heart," said Gabriella Aguilar.

"Thanks so, so much to the both of you, for everything," added Brad Searles. "For all the beers, the get-togethers, the way you did things, the attention to detail, the always-spiffy design. It was all appreciated, and will be much missed. Best of luck with your next adventure."
The Paquettes said the final batches of Pretty Things beers will ship over the next couple of weeks, and the beer will continue to be available through at least January of 2016.
