Regina Pizzeria Files for Bankruptcy

Boston Restaurant Associates Inc. asking court to help reorganize, get relief from leases at some of its restaurants

The parent company of the legendary Regina Pizzeria restaurants has filed for bankruptcy, according to The Boston Globe.

Woburn, Massachusetts-based Boston Restaurant Associates Inc. has asked the court to help reorganize and get relief from leases at some of its restaurants where business has been less than ideal.

The Globe reports the chain has indicated it has already moved to close four of its 17 Regina Pizzeria establishments.

"Don't worry everyone we are not going out of business! We have closed 4 under preforming Regina locations in the Arsenal Mall, Emerald Square Mall, Mall of New Hampshire, and Pheasant Lane Mall. Other than that, all other locations are business as usual. This will not affect any other locations or Polcari's restaurants," Regina Pizzeria said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Regina Pizzeria got its start in the North End in 1926.
