Rhode Island Secretary of State Ralph Mollis has approved a decision ordering a consultant for Curt Schilling's failed 38 Studios video game company to file required lobbying reports for 2010 within seven days or face a $2,000 fine.

A hearing officer for Mollis' office found in September that attorney Michael Corso engaged in unregistered lobbying in 2010 that resulted in a bill that included a $75 million state loan guarantee to the former Red Sox pitcher's company,

Corso's lawyers have vowed to appeal the hearing officer's decision to Superior Court, saying it was made without factual or legal support.

State taxpayers were left on the hook for more than $100 million when Schilling's company went bankrupt after moving to Providence from Massachusetts.
