The TD Garden Improvement Plan

The Boston plan will cost $70M and take 2 years to complete

TD Garden President Amy Latimer joined NECN to talk about arena's $70 million improvement plan.

Latimer said that the main renovations are taking place on Level Four, which is the floor with access to the lodge seating. She says in addition to new flooring and lighting, there is new digital signage to help navigate the building, new concessions, and Wi-Fi.

In addition, the Garden is partnering with Boston Properties to create a whole new front entrance to the arena.

“To be able to give them the actual front door to come in the building, but also, it’s mix-used retailers, restaurants, hotel, residential, and office space. So, it’s going to change that whole look of that area downtown,” Latimer explained. “It’s time to put something there that’s better for our fans and the community.”

Latimer says although this is a two-year plan, there will not be major construction during the winter sports season.

In addition, Latimer talked about her experience as a woman as president of a business in the sports industry, in addition to how the Garden would be involved if the 2024 Olympic Games came to Boston.
