The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in West Africa to be an international public health emergency
Officials say the outbreak requires an extraordinary response to stop its spread.
The WHO declared similar emergencies for the swine flu pandemic in 2009 and for polio earlier this year.
Ebola has already killed more than 900 people in West Africa.
Growing concerns over the deadly outbreak are also prompting changes in air travel.
The CDC has issued new guidelines when it comes to handling passengers travelers who may have the virus.
